Tan-trumz Tanning Salon
There are many benefits to using lotions before and after tanning indoors. It is our priority to protect and enhance your skin by offering a selection of lotions, moisturizers, and skincare products. From designer names, to natural ingredients, all of our products contain ingredients that include active vitamins, minerals and nutrients to keep the skin healthy and moisturized. This maximizes your tan.
Less expensive store brands do not contain these ingredients. In fact, many lotions contain alcohol which will dry the skin and actually hinder the tanning process. Quality lotions have a shelf life much lower than big-box stores because they have natural preservative instead of alcohol. Since quality lotions have active ingredients such as vitamins and minerals, they do have an expiration date. There have been reports that many lotions showing up on the internet are expired products, which can result in a foul odor and lack of effectiveness. A tanning salon is the one place that is licensed to sell any of the products and lotions we provide.

Many online products are actually counterfeits, knock-offs like handbags, jewelry and clothing. Some are coming from individuals that are buying them in a salon or possibly from a clearance outlet where they are out of date, using the product, watering it down or filling the bottle back up with some other low-quality lotion and selling them online. Since high end lotions have active ingredients such as the biosaccarides and vitamins and minerals, they do have an expiration date.

Tan Extenders &Moisturizers
Tan extenders are specialized lotions to lengthen the life of your tan. They are made to replenish your skin with some of the moisture, nutrients and vitamins that you lose. They are the best lotions to use whenever you need a boost of moisture.
Accelerators
Accelerators help hydrate your skin, contain vitamins and nutrients, and help your skin to absorb UV light. This lets you get the most out of the tanning session. Some accelerators may contain bronzers.
Natural Bronzers
Bronzers in tanning lotions amplify a tan by making it darker with natural pigments like berries, chocolate (coco), and caffeine, without DHA (dihydroxyacetone). Bronzers give a darker tan in less time and with less exposure to sunlight.
DHA Bronzers
Bronzers may contain either natural ingredients or dihydroxyacetone (DHA). DHA is an amino acid that is produced from sugar cane. The FDA approves DHA as a safe and effective way to darken the skin. Natural pigments are also safe. Both work at the top layer of the skin to alter the color. DHA bronzers are known as self-tanners. DHA causes a chemical reaction that turns dark when exposed to protein in skin.
Cooling
A cooling lotion can be very relaxing as these lotions mildly cool the skin, and are enhanced by the fans. The cooling agents, usually some type of menthol, can be enhanced by a bronzer, but not always, and they do not affect the tanning process.
Tinglers
The ingredients in a tingle lotion, usually niacin or Vitamin B, increase the circulation, oxidation, and helps bring melanin in the blood to the surface of the skin. Since your skin needs oxygen to tan and the melanin maximizes the tanning process, a tingler means a quicker, darker tan.
A tingle or warming sensation comes with a "tingle". While the feeling is completely harmless and will lessen after tanning, it is not recommended for fair-skinned tanners until they have built a darker skin tone through tanning.
